Need a large, but narrow car

I have a Volvo XC70, which I love. It has lots of toys, is very comfortable and the boot is perfect for carrying a dog cage.large loads. I now want to buy something similar, but narrower.

There are so many occasions for which a narrower car would be better - driving in tunnels and on country lanes, parking in almost any car park - to name but a few. Have you any suggestions as to cars with similar levels of comfort and space which I could consider?

Not narrower, no. If you want narrow, a KIA cee'd SW, Hyundai i30 SW, SEAT Ibiza ST, SEAT Toledo, Skoda Ranid, Skoda Rapid Spaceback. But even the new Skoda Octavia Scout is 2,017mm mirror to mirror (1,814 wide mirrors folded). Your XC70 is 1,861mm mirror to mirror.
