Is it possible to repair a actuator on a Citroen C2?

My Citroen C2 has been suffering from a sticking gearbox. The problem got worst and every time I stop in first it would choose second to get going again. Today, the car refused to move and I’ve had no luck at my local garage, but Citroen have said it could be either the gearbox or gear actuator - both costing a small fortune. I’ve found a small company that say they can repair the actuator, is this possible?

I recommend people not to buy automated manuals more than three years old because of the potential for the clutch and/or the actuator to fail. New actuators run at £1500 - £2000, so if someone claims they can fix the existing one for sensible money then it has to be worth a try. Are they a member of www.fedauto.co.uk?
