Rough running Polo GTi

I have a Volkswagen Polo GTi 6R, which is fitted with the 1.4-litre TSi 180 petrol engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The car was purchased new in March of this year and I followed the ‘running in’ procedure for the first 1000 miles, as per the handbook.

Recently, when starting the car from cold, the engine runs unevenly and the exhaust note sounds louder than before.

Is this something I should be concerned about and if so, what would you advise I do next?

You obviously didn't check in www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar entries for the Polo GTI and Fabia VRS. Though a multiple design award winner, this Twincharger engine can have a lot of problems due to the complex fuel delivery system diluting the oil. It's why they stopped making the model and replaced it with the single turbo 1.4 ACT 150. Get it back to the dealer and complain.
