Buying a new convertible - what would you recommend?

Someone ran into the back of our much loved 1999 Mazda MX-5 1.8S (owned from new, full main dealer service history, low mileage), fortunately my wife, who was driving it at the time, was unhurt.

Unsurprisingly the car is a write off and thoughts of buying it back and getting it repaired were short lived as costs of repair are in excess of £5000.

Our initial thoughts were to spend some time finding a direct replacement, the best example we can find, whatever the cost. However, our main requirement is a convertible so we are now thinking more widely.

We would like something a little practical (eg; bigger boot) but equally as cheap to run and reliable as our Mazda, bearing in mind I'm 6 feet 2 inches tall (an MX-5 is a tight fit) - what would you suggest?

MINI Cooper R57 convertible. More room inside. The rear seats fold to carry more luggage. And, when you want, you can carry four: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/mini/mini-converti.../

Or a Citroen DS3 cabrio or an Abarth 500C.
