Best car for carrying three children in the back?

I would like to replace my Volkswagen Golf Estate with a new car, which can carry three children, aged from a few months to seven years old. I don't want a people carrier and would prefer to have an SUV.

The car would need to be diesel and efficient, with low consumption and CO2. Should I get a Volvo XC60 or a Honda CR-V?

Can't think of any SUVs that take 3 across. A Porsche Macan and Audi Q5 do have three ISOFIX tethers but not three full size rear seats. Has to be a Citroen C4 Picasso, S-Max, 5008, etc., The old 308 SW could take 3 across. The new one doesn't.
