Can you recommend a sporty car for a 10 mile commute?

I need to buy a car for a 10 mile commute. Fuel economy isn’t important. I have always wanted a Mazda RX-8, and second hand prices are great value. However, I have heard they can be intermittent to start after a while. What cars would you recommend for around £5000 that are fun to drive, 0-62 under eight seconds, road tax of £280 or under, and have standard maintenance costs?

An RX-8 is probably the worst car in the world to repeatedly drive short distances from cold starts. A Toyota Celica is a much better bet.
