The key won't come out of the ignition in my Golf automatic

My Golf Mark VI 1.4 TSI had a new gearbox last year - the usual DSG problem gearbox. Since then, the ignition key refuses to come out of the ignition about half of the time. My garage insists that it is an ignition switch problem - 110%. However, given that the only way of getting the key out is to put the car back into drive and then push it hard into park again, this does not sound like a feasible excuse. Any ideas?

You are probably right. It's not the ignition. It's the mechanism of the selector quadrant.
