My van is registered in my ex-girlfriend's dad's name - how can I re-register it as mine?

I bought a van from an auction back in 2008. When I bought the van I registered it in my name, but as the insurance was too high we decided to register it in my ex-girlfriends dad's name so I could be a named driver on his insurance policy. Now we have all had a big fallout and he is demanding the van, saying it is his as he has the V5 document in his name. I have the receipt from the auction to prove I paid for the van. How can I resolve this issue? Can I just apply for a new V5 in my name?

Use a V62 to re-register the van in your name.
