My Ford Galaxy's wheels have become porous and leak air - will a refurb solve this?

I have a 2003 Ford Galaxy fitted with original alloy wheels. These have become scraped and have slight signs of corrosion on them. This is my first vehicle with alloys and none of the tyres hold their pressure, requiring re- inflating at least once a week. Could this be due to the wheels being slightly porous and if so would a refurbish solve the problem?

Yes, the wheels will have become porous and a refurb might not fix this. You could let them try, but it's probably better if you think in terms of a fresh set, preferably steels from a scrapper. Note that steels require different tapered shouldered bolts to hold them on. You can't use the same bolts that hold on the alloys.
