Which engine version of the Dacia Sandero Ambiance would you recommend?

We are looking to replace my wife's 2005 Focus and have been looking at the Dacia Sandero Ambiance. I know that Dacia is owned by Renault, but is this car a credible alternative? It will be mainly used for local journeys and I wondered what would be the best engine option as I know that you think well of the Renault 1.5 diesel but it is fitted with the dreaded DPF? Your advice would be very much appreciated.

If the car is for mainly local use, go for the 90TCe, not the 90DCI, and avoid any potential DPF problems. It also suits the car better than the diesel. From £7395. At 21.6 per cent, Dacia has enjoyed a bigger year on year sales increase in Europe than any other car brand, narrowly beating Jaguar at 20.5 per cent.
