Why is Honda dropping the Accord from the market?

I refer to the email printed 6 April from "DH" regarding his possible purchase of an Accord and was shocked to read your reply suggesting the model might be dropped. My own 1999 2.0i Accord has been by far the best car I have ever had and at 84 years of age I have had quite a few. My car has A/C, central locking, cruise control, slide and tilt sunroof and electric aerial, all of which still work perfectly. I'll admit the mileage is low at 74,000 but about 80 per cent of journeys have been very short. I should also mention that the original battery lasted 10 years. I know the Accord was very successful in America so what on earth is Honda playing at?

The final decision will be determined by supply and demand. If demand in the UK is not sufficient for it to be worth Honda's while importing the next model of Accord, they will drop it for the same reason that Toyota dropped the Camry in the UK. That too remained a best seller in the USA.
