Lancashire County Council now does free driving courses for older drivers.

Your readers might be interested to know that Lancashire County Council offers a free driving course for older people. I am sixty eight years old and I did the course last week. You drive for an hour and a half on a route of your choice. I chose a mixture of town, urban, single carriageway and motorway roads. The assessor was most helpful and offered some good advice both whilst driving and at the end on the course. There is no pass or fail and no intention to remove older drivers from the road. I thought that my driving was safe and controlled and the assessment confirmed this, but I did learn from the course and I know that I am now a safer driver. I thoroughly recommend this course.

A number of county councils now do this. Very sensible of them.
