Buying a new towcar - what should I get?

I need to replace my towcar, I've towed caravans with GM autos for 30 years and they've always been good for me. The obvious choice is an Insignia or V70 but are there any other big estates with a torque converter transmission? The poor reports of dual clutch gearboxes have put me off Ford/VW group cars, I'm not sure if Audi's have this system. I had considered a Freelander but their reliability seems questionable, any advice would be appreciated.

Yes, most Audis do now have dual clutch 's-tronic' or CVT Multitronic transmissions. BMWs remain torque converter, as do Mercedes from C Class up. Mazdas are all torque converter, so a Mazda 6 would do the job.
