How's this tip to keep windscreens clear?

Reference windscreen cleaning, I use a dry Brillo pad on a dry screen then treat screen with Rain X, which gives excellent results. No need for wipers at motorway speeds when raining.

I bought new wiper blades but I can’t remove the old ones (non-blade type) on my Toyota Auris. I presume my current ones have a hook attachment design but I can’t find any catch to press to get them off....
