Which 4x4 is suitable for towing and long journeys?

We have tall children (6 feet 7 inches) and after six years and 90,000 miles of enjoying the luxury of an Amazon we are looking to replace it. We can fit into a Discovery, an LC4 (the only one we've test driven) an Audi Q7 and presumably an Amazon. The LC4 seems under powered, a bit noisy at the back and no tailgate, but otherwise very good. The Discovery is not so comfortable in the back. Any thoughts on which one would tow well (horses and boats) and be good on long journeys?

The Q7 is one of the biggest of the cars you've mentioned and an excellent towing car as well as offering great long distance comfort. The 3.0 TDI has plenty of performance on tap and is reasonably economical (given the size of the Q7 so we'd suggest this is the best choice.
