Vauxhall Vectra making clunking noise on gearshift

My Vauxhall Vectra C 1.9 diesel has started making an intermittent clunking/crunch through the lower gears. It does not do it when you let engine speed slow down, or when changing down, but only on the up-change. Any ideas?

Could be the dual mass flywheel starting to give up. The greatest torque reaction is on the up-changes from 1st to 2nd and 2d to 3rd.

Far better than previous Vectra. Now with decent handling and an excellent ride. Plenty of safety kit. Roomy in the front. Big boot. Good looks.
