Please recommend a durable, economical hatchback which is built to last?
I currently own a G-reg Nissan Micra which has done just over 60,000 miles. However, rust is taking hold and I now need to replace it. My budget is approx. £3500 - £4000. Most of my driving is local, with occasional trips of approx. 300 miles. I normally drive a car into the ground, and therefore I am looking for a small, economical hatchback which is built to last. Any suggestions, please?

We'd suggest something from one of the Japanese manufacturers such as a Toyota Yaris or a Honda Jazz. Both are reliable and well built, plus cheap to run. For your budget you can get a 2003 Jazz 1.4-litre with less than 35,000 miles on the clock.
