Can a dealer offer limited warranty?

I'm buying a 2006 Discovery 3 which has done 106,000 miles. The car looks fantastic and well cared for., but the dealer is offering a six month warranty, restricted to a £500 claim at any one time. If this limited warranty the norm for my age of vehicle should I consider my own warranty policy?

It's normal for a cheap insured warranty, but the dealer is in fact liable for any major fault that develops on the car that could have been present or developing on for six months from date of sale. After that, the onus of proof that the fault was present on date of sale is with you.
