Diesel hatchback, 5dr, £8k budget, high Euro ncap, low mileage, turbo

I am looking to purchase a used five door hatchback, with with a good torquey diesel engine that will return high mpg on constant speed (motorway) driving.

A high Euro NCAP rating is also very important. I have been looking at late Mk5 Golfs or early Mk6 with the 105hp Bluemotion engine but would consider other Volkswagen group cars, and maybe also other makes such as Hyundai, Kia or Ford. I have had bad experiences with PSA group diesels

My budget is circa £8k.

Avoid VAG 1.6TDIs. 1.9TDIs without diesel particulate filters were much better. Or go for the more reliable chain cam Hyundai/KIA 1.6CRDI
