Stationary car hit by lorry who denies any wrongdoing - what are my options?

While driving along a B road in Penzance, I pulled over to allow a flatbed truck to pass from the other direction. Despite doing this, the truck driver still hit my car, tearing the offside front tyre, smashing the wing mirror clean off, and scratching the bodywork.

I managed to get the truck's licence plate, but the driver now denies everything and has laughingly told me that if I claim through insurance against him, mine will suffer accordingly. What should I do?

Sue him for the damage using the small claims track of the county court starting with www.moneyclaim.gov.uk You are not obliged to do this through your insurer.
