Does my 2009 Toyota Yaris 1.4 D4D SR have stop-start technology?
I recently purchased an '09 plate Toyota Yaris. It's a 1.4 D4D SR. When browsing it the dealer, they stated it has Toyota Optimal Drive/stop-start. There is a sticker on the rear window that states it has 'Optimal Drive'. All's fine so far. However it hasn't worked yet and I have driven in stop-start traffic. Also the Yaris booklet/guide shows that there should be a on/off switch in a booklet diagram. My car doesn't have this. Before I call the dealer, did March 2009 Yaris models come with optimal drive/stop-start as standard? If not, what should I do?

Toyota's Optimal Drive covers a range of technologies to improve efficiency. This includes reducing engine and transmission weight and reduced friction to produce engines that are more efficient and economical. It also includes a stop-start system but only on the 1.33 Dual VVT-i engine with six-speed manual transmission. As yours is a 1.4 D-4D it won't have it, but it will have the rest of Toyota's Optimal drive technologies (just not the stop-start function).
