Ford Powershift Gearbox - engine revs oscillation problem

I’m currently experiencing some problems with my Ford Galaxy and its Powershift gearbox. When going at constant vehicle speed up a steep hill (or gentle incline while towing a caravan), the engine revs oscillate at about half a cycle per second. It feels and sounds like the clutch slipping then re-engaging, slipping.

The problem occurs whether the car is in cruise control or being held at constant speed with the foot throttle. The Ford dealer has updated the vehicle's computer software, but says there are no fault codes. Do you have any ideas on the cause?

I would not have chosen a dual clutch automatic for towing, but you'll get the best feedback about this from the Caravan Club and other websites catering for caravanners.

It could indeed be the dual mass flywheel which on a Ford Powrshift, I am told, is sprung rather than held together with compound. So that would explain the effect of the DMP taking up the torque.
