Audi A4 or BMW 3 Series?

Can you tell me which is better, Audi A4 or BMW 3 Series? The reviews seem to suggest that the new BMW is a better car, but I'm hesitant because I've had 3 Series cars before and found the seats uncomfortable and the ride harsh. Which car could you buy?

The A4 is front wheel drive. The F30 3-Series is rear wheel drive. The F30 rids best on 205/55 R16s which is standard spec for the ED diesel, otherwise it's on 17s and most are specced up to 18s. Even on 18s, it rides better than the E90.

If you go for the A4 B8 instead, best engines are the 1.8TFSI and 2.0TFSI, not the 2.0 litre diesels.
