Should I keep my well-maintained Forester?

I have owned my 2007 2.0-litre petrol Subaru Forester for five and a half years, from ex demo.

It has only done 42k miles; I have the oil changed every 6 months, and a full service every year. My use is either rural roads, or long runs. Nothing has yet gone wrong.

It runs beautifully and seems to be a great car, save only for mpg which is around 30 to 35. Probably not that bad. I am aware you often say cars now only have a life of 7 years or so - should I hang on to this and keep it running, or should I be looking to change?

Should I be watching for anything with this model?

Nothing has gone wrong because it's a good car and because of your careful, sensible maintenance regime. These engines do need replacement timing belts and I'd say that's about due.
