New Duster or used X-Trail?

I am planning on buying a 4x4 with a budget of £17k. A two year old X-Trail is top of the list but I'd like your view on whether a new Dacia Duster would be a better or worse investment. I'd be likely to change either car at 4 years of age, so would need two used cars for two years each or one new Duster for four years.

No reason not to go for the Duster and not even spend your £17k.
