MoT tester didn't identify a problem with my exhaust?

I recently had an MOT and a service at a garage. The garage identified a problem with the brakes and pads and new ones were fitted. I asked if there were any other issues with the car and I was told there were none.

Three days after the service after driving less than 10 miles my exhaust broke. When I took it to another garage for repair they said it was badly corroded and that this should have been pointed out during the service.

What rights do I have as regards the first garage? I now have doubts about the whole service. Should they contribute to the cost of my exhaust repair?

Why? The car passed its MoT. If the MoT inspector had failed the exhaust you would have had to pay for a new one then. It happened that the exhaust subsequently failed so you have to pay for a replacement now rather than then.
