Buying a compact MPV?

We are looking for a new car to fit two adults and two babies (newborn and two years old). Would like a decent boot (around 400 litres) and we mostly drive short runs (to and from work / kindergarden) or short trips (20-30 miles). We cover less than 10,000 miles a year.
We've taken a look at the Meriva (not bad) and new Carens (maybe too big).
Any suggestions?

Both okay. The Meriva with the 1.4T 140 engine is the most fun to drive. 'Lifetime Warranty'. The KIA comes with a 7 year warranty.
