Is Britain's car industry recovering?

We have just replaced our Rover 45, after seven years trouble-free motoring, with a new Freelander 2. What a fantastic car! Before choosing the Freelander we visited many showrooms including Mercedes-Benz, BMW and many others. We purchased the Freelander 2 as it was, in our view the best in every respect, and made in the UK.

You could also have bought an Avensis. 85 per cent of Toyotas built in the UK are exported. Or an Auris or an Astra or a Juke or a Note or a CR-V or a Civic or a Jazz, or even a Jaguar, of course. Happily, British car output is rising and Britain now exports half a million cars more than it imports.
