Faulty used car - should the dealer pay for the repairs?
My daughter has bought her first car, a 2002 Peugeot 206 from a ‘private dealer’. Within days the engine management light came on and the car has spent most of its days in the garage, with replacement coils, plugs and ECU. So far we’ve spent more than £1000 and the problems still persist.
My daughter cannot afford to pay out any more on this car, should the garage rectify the problem without further cost? What should we do?

No such thing as a "private dealer". If she bought from a dealer they are liable to fix the car. But he is not liable to pay for another garage to fix the car if he was not first given the opportunity to do so. Law here: honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
