Can you recommend a petrol-engined 4x4 SUV?

On your website it says that the new model Santa Fe can come with a petrol engine. However there is no mention of one on the Hyundai website? I fancy having a 4x4 but am avoiding looking at any diesels because I only do about 5000 miles a year and not many long trips, so wish to avoid the dreaded DPFs. Have you any suggestions for a something suitable? I do not like the look of the new Honda CR-V.

Both Hyundai and KIA launched 2.4-litre petrol versions and 2.0-litre diesel engines of their new Santa Fe and Sorento, but they seem to have decided not to bring the petrol engines and smaller diesel into the UK. It could be that Toyota will carry over the excellent 2.0-litre petrol Valvematic to the new RAV4 due next year. It's as economical as the diesel and far less trouble.

The other alternative is the Mazda CX-5 Skyactiv petrol model, tested here, but only 2WD: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/mazda/mazda-cx-5-2...e
