Are parking tickets enforceable on Bank Holidays?

We parked in Cumbria on Tuesday, Queen's Jubilee Bank Holiday, assuming the "Free parking for two hours with no return" restriction would not be in force. But we got a ticket. In general, aren’t Bank Holidays like Sundays? Aren’t most restrictions lifted?

No. You have to check the individual rulings. If the conditions say "Parking free on Sundays and Bank Holidays" then there will be no tickets for parking on Bank Holidays. If they merely say "parking restrictions apply Monday to Saturday" then restrictions apply on Bank Holidays.
