What do you think of the Nissan Qashqai?

I currently have a Nissan P12 Primera 2.2 dCi SVE which is nearly 10 years old, with 108,000 miles. I have been very pleased with this car. It is reliable, economical and not too expensive to maintain. Within the next couple of years, prudence would indicate a change and the Qashqai 1.6dCi 130 looks interesting. Perhaps you could tell me if the engine is a Renault derivative, and if so, your opinion of it. Is it a chain cam?

It's not Renault derived, it's pure Renault, but it is chain cam and it is the most advanced small diesel engine in the world, with F1 Renault technology that helps it reach running temperature very quickly, which is important to keep the DPF and EGR clear. Renault currently makes the best F1 engines, as fitted to Red Bull.
