Gearbox failure - should I accept partial repair costs?

I have a Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI 122 DSG which is three years old and has covered 32,000 miles since new. The gearbox has failed and needs to be replaced, and Volkswagen has quoted £4,300. They and the dealer will pay 100 per cent of labour costs and 80 per cent of parts costs, so I will pay 20 per cent of the parts cost which is £655.

The dealer has been great and I have an identical loan car for as long as needed. What do you think I should do?

This seems to be quite common with the wet clutch seven-speed DSG, but you have been very well looked after. Accept this generous offer.
