Should I sell my 2004 Mercedes-Benz E270 to avoid problems in the future?

I purchased a Mercedes-Benz E270 CDI Elegance Estate on 1 September 2004. It has only done 55,000 miles, is in excellent condition and has been serviced regularly. Due to its age, should I think about selling it before it starts to potentially have big repair bills or should I just hang onto to it and run it for a few more years as it is probably only worth £5000 or so, versus cost of £36,000?

They can have some devastating problems, particularly if the Valeo radiator automatic transmission fluid heat exchanger problem rears its ugly head. Well worth checking if it has a Valeo radiator and, if it does, having this changed to ensure the heat exchanger does not fracture and introduce engine coolant to the automatic transmission fluid. The 2002 – 2006 Sensotronic brakes can also give trouble.
