Can you jump start hybrids?

Comments on the site say hybrids can't be jump-started. I've just bought a new Jazz Hybrid & asked the Honda dealer about this.

Was told Jazz Hybrids can be jump-started as they have a small standard battery (as well as the hybrid batteries). Jump-starting is covered on page 423 of the Owners Handbook.

If jump starting is covered in the handbook, then follow the instructions precisely. People have had trouble with Prius. I know that for sure.

Is it safe to jump-start a hybrid car? My CR-V battery is 7 years old and, although not yet a problem, I wonder if I should keep a set of jump-start leads in the car in case the battery fails without warning.
