Tyre sealant - do you recommend?

I understand tyre sealants (Air-Seal, OKO, Ultraseal, Slime) are preventative and will instantly seal a small puncture, and the seal will remain good for the life of the tyre. What is your view, please, on these products? Are there any (messy) complications at the time of tyre change?

Motorcyclists swear by some of these products and Ford is now using one of them rather than fitting runflats.
