My son was sold a car with worn tyres

My son bought a one-year old Volkswagen Scirocco a few days ago, and when we got it home, we found the centres of the front tyres were badly worn down to the wear indicators.

The garage claims that cars don't go out unless they have at least 1000miles left on the tyres. We didn't really check over the car as they said that every would be checked before it went out - and they are a long established company with a good reputation!

Now they seem to be very reluctant to answer my phone calls. What would you advise me to do? Unfortunately the garage is in Northamptonshire while we live in Wiltshire.

The supplying dealer is liable for supplying you a car in a dangerous condition. Phone them up and ask how they want to handles this? Will they be happy with photos of the tyres and you going to a local tyre dealer? Do they want you to take the car to a local VAG dealer?
