Failure of cruise control

Driving with the cruise on for 60-65 minutes, I stop for a stretch, which takes around 10-15 minutes. Back on the road cruise control will not set, and it takes around 25 minutes before I can set it again.

Garage has checked on computer four times and says it finds nothing wrong.

You are supposed to switch cruise off before you switch off the engine. Do not switch off with cruise still engaged.
