Problematic motorway cruising in a Vectra

When driving on the motorway at about 70 mph the engine management light comes on and the engine loses power. It doesn't do it when driving around town but there is a big loss in power and is using a lot of fuel. When plugged into the computer it doesnt specify the fault but it mentions vacuum.

Well we would suggest that firstly all air/ vacuum pipes are checked for looseness/ damage. If okay then it could be that you have water going into the air filter housing. If so this will cause the MAF (mass air flow) sensor not to operate which in turn will cause the limp mode.
Other than that you may need to check the EGR (exhaust gas recycling solenoid).
