Used Corsa head gasket failure after just a few months.

I purchased a Vauxhall 2007 Corsa 1.2 Club for £3650 on the 14th July this year and now the head gasket has gone.
The dealer only gave 30 days warranty on the engine and gearbox. Trading Standards have advised me I can go back to the dealer and ask them to fix the problem as it should have lasted a reasonable length of time. 2 months 1 day does not seem reasonable to me!

I have only just managed to get a mechanic to have a look and been told it will cost around £500 to fix!

If the garage say it is fair wear and tear would this be correct? Head gasket is not a working moving part?

Trading Standards is right. The car must have been developing this fault on the date of sale. Law here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
