Driving with a worn DMF - what happens?

I think I have the early signs of a worn DMF. What is the outcome (regarding damage or possible breakdown) of driving with a worn Dual Mass Flywheel?

You might lose drive. You might mangle your starter motor. If the timing is taken from the flywheel the engine may simply stop running.
