I need a used family hatchback, key features for me would be safe, reliable and economical, but with a decent sized engine and low miles - budget £5,000.

Try to find a Hyundai i30 or KIA cee'd, preferably 1.6CRDI but you will probably have to settle for a 1.4 or 1.6 petrol. Avoid 2.0 litre petrol and diesel.

I'm looking at the Hyundai i30. Will the 1.4 petrol have plenty of power for the size of car. Or is the 1.6 diesel a better option. We only do about 8000 to 10000 miles a year.
