Theft via OBD port

Recent articles in the press regarding a security flaw with late registered BMWs causes me concern. I've looked at the internet and there is a lot of information about vehicles being stolen by accessing the OBD port, which apparently sits outside of coverage of the alarm sensor and programming a blank electronic key fob. I’ve spoken with my dealer who claims to have heard nothing about a security flaw, not even a rumour.

My questions are:
• Is there a real problem?
• If there is a problem, what off the shelf security product would you recommend to perhaps deter the thief?

There are a lot of rumours and there is a lot of forum discussion about this. I take delivery of a 328i on 25th July so have a particular interest in this. The best defence is a very clunky but effective Disklok: www.disklokuk.co.uk/
