Buying a second hand automatic

My wife's Focus 'W' reg petrol Zetec 1.8 with 73,500 miles, full service history, everything fully working and with a few corner scratches is due for replacing.

She does around 5,000 miles or less annually and now wishes for a 5 door automatic hatchback with easily fold-down rear seats that is nice to drive and has a lower road tax bracket and decent fuel consumption.

Something around 2-3 years old would fit the bill and we'd be grateful for a list for consideration and, within that list, the best models to go for and the ones to avoid.

What price should we ask for her Focus for a private sale please?

Many thanks for your excellent site - I used to buy your books yearly, but can no longer find them.

Assuming 'Climate' the Focus is worth about £800. Ask £950 and see what happens. Replace with a 2 - 3 year old KIA cee'd or Hyundai i30 1.6 4-speed auto, or a Nissan Note 1.6 4-speed auto.
