Saab 9-5 based on the Vauxhall Vectra?

I keep reading that the Saab 9-5 is based on the Vauxhall Vectra, but given the size of the car, surely it is based on the Vauxhall Omega?

No. The Omega was rear wheel drive. The 9-5 was based on the Vectra floorpan. Early examples have terminal understeer. Was improved from 2001 facelift, but never a fine handling car.
