Which car for carrying children?

Need new family car with space for a stage two baby seat, easy access for toddler and a big boot for buggy, shopping and European holidays.

Can't decide between posh tourer for comfort and economy or crossover. Didn't like the drive of a 4 x 4 with higher running costs. Only cover 10k a year so I prefer petrol to avoid DPF. Budget £10 to £12k.

An MPV makes more sense because it means less bending to lift the children and the seats in and out of the cars and therefore much less risk of back injury. Think Scenic, Verso, C-Max, Mazda 5.
