Many readers complain about the difference between published and actual MPG's. Until something better is developed, I think the current Euro test is good and as you always report should only be used for comparisons between models. What is very misleading is for manufacturers to use these figures in their marketing of models. Manufacturers should add 'these figures should only be used for comparison as it is practically impossible to replicate test conditions in real world driving'. I regularly insert my actual MPG based on a full tank on your website and encourage more to do so.
