A diesel 4x4 for a GP

I am a GP in West Yorkshire and have to drive 24-30 miles a day through all weathers. I have been very happy with my old Subaru Forrester (1997) - which I fitted with all terrain tyres - apart from the petrol consumption.

I wanted to replace it with the diesel version but second hand ones are not around.

I particularly like the large sunroof. I have 2 kids and need a resonable boot. Any suggestions as to the best alternatives. Reliability and economy are key features.

I don't think you'll beat a Forester diesel.

You could look at a RAV-4; maybe a used CR-V 2.2iCTDI.
