Should I change my car?

We have a 2004 (04) Golf 1.9 TDI which goes as well now (109,000miles) as when we bought it 6 years ago.

The next service (116K) will necessitate new cam belt (number 2) plus extras, some brake work and body work likely to cost around £2,000.

Is it time to consider another Golf - we quite like them? Do we not spend the £2K, get a trade in of around £2K and buy a newer model - there are some 08/09 plates with less than 20,000 miles at around £10K, or is it better to resurrect the current one and assume that it will go on nearly for ever?

Though I hear that the later Mark 5s are less reliable than the older ones.

Anyone at HJ have a good crystal ball?!

I'd stop pouring money in before you start and use it to buy a newer car.
