Is £1200 a good price for my private registration plate?

12 years ago I bought the private registration plate 'PDF 25' for £2500. I now wish to sell it and have only been offered £1200. I do not know whether to advertise privately for a higher price, or if that is a good offer. If you were to think the price would go up in a few years time, is it worth keeping hold of for a while more whilst on a retention certificate?

I don't get involved in this trade. I did, and lost some fingers, which is why I now don't and why I refuse to have anything to do with it.
